Carene spoke on behalf of Yerazad and as a representative for the Armenian community at a press conference to demand LAUSD leaders refuse to be complicit in genocide. This coalition includes LAUSD parents, LAUSD students, LAUSD teachers, UTLA members, anti-Zionist Jews, Palestinian Youth Movement, Union del Barrio, LA Educators for Justice in Palestine, Association of Raza Educators, Stop LAPD Spying Coalition, Socialist Unity Party, Council on American-Islamic Relations, Los Angeles (CAIR-LA), and MANY more.
Yerazad 4th Annual 4/24 Action
Yerazad’s annual action on Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day will be international for the first time! We will be holding safe gathering spaces and community flyering events in Yerevan, Los Angeles, Portland, and New York City.

Yerazad is proud to join SWANA LA, Palestinian Feminist Collective, and a long list of feminist orgs committed to human rights this International Working Women’s Day at Cheviot Hills Park in West LA! Join us as we lift up and center the struggle of working women and the role they play across all our communities as fighters for justice, caretakers of our communities, and protectores of our homes and land.

Carene represented Yerazad by speaking alongside a representative from Jewish Voice for Peace and other community leaders as part of Pasadena Community College’s Anti-War Club’s protest. She also had the honor of paying tribute to the late great Refaat Alareer.
“Who Remembers?” Armenian - Palestinian Solidarities: A Reading
Yerazad is honored to co-sponsor this event that convenes Armenian and Palestinian writers to denounce the normalization of genocidal violence, in solidarity with those under siege in Gaza. The event is staged in opposition to Islamophobia, anti-Arab racism, antisemitism, and anti-Armenian racism, in recognition that there can be no justice until all are free. Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank are now witnessing the escalation of an ongoing campaign of genocidal violence.
Ceasefire Now Mass Mobilization
As the death toll of Palestinian civilians in Gaza reaches 3,000, Yerazad is proud to join leading U.S. justice organizations call on people of conscience across the country to converge on the National Mall to pray for the dead and fight for the living, in a Mass Mobilization to demand President Biden and Congress call for a ceasefire in Gaza.
Never again means never again for everyone. As a multiracial and multifaith coalition, we maintain that all peoples deserve to live in safety and dignity. The U.S. gives 3.8 billion in aid to Israel each year and we will not stand idly by while our tax dollars are used to fund more atrocities against Palestinian civilians.

Carene Rose Mekertichyan will represent Yerazad and her perspective as a Black Armenian artist at Pasadena Community College's Disruption, Denial, & Innovation panel as part of their Armenian Heritage Month programming. This panel will explore community resilience after genocide and political violence.
Yerazad Launch Anniversary IG Live with CFTJ
Martin Luther King Jr. Day marks the one year anniversary of Yerazad Coalition's launch. We'll be going live on Instagram with the Center for Truth and Justice to discuss their petition to stop Azerbaijan from erasing the Indigenous Armenian names of cities and regions from Google maps. We’ll also be joined by four guests who uplift Armenian and SWANA liberation in their anti-colonial work.
March for Afghanistan

“To Intervene at a Distance” Virtual Launch
We are part of Glendale Library Arts & Culture and ReflectSpace Gallery 's virtual exhibition Sites of Fracture: Diasporic Imaginings of Occupied Artsakh a virtual exhibition that brings together diasporan Armenian artists—from the United States, Canada, and Germany—to build collective counter-narratives to the forces of occupation and cultural erasure in the Republic of Artsakh.
Our work, entitled Images of Crossing // Հատման Պատկերներ (Hutmun Patkerner), is displayed alongside Kamee Abrahamian, Ali Cat/Entangled Roots Press, Silvina Der-Meguerditchian, Naré Mkrtchyan, Nelli Sargsyan, She Loves Collective, Scout Tufankjian, and Anahid Yahjian.
